Police claimed to have arrested a burglar who tried to break open the safe of a mosque in Gund area of Ganderbal district.

Acting on a complaint, Police Station Gund began investigating an aborted burglary attempt at Jamia Masjid Gund.

“The CCTV cameras installed in the masjid as well as the recording equipment were found damaged and a television set attached to the CCTV cameras was found stolen,” a police spokesman said.

“During the course of investigation Zahoor Ahmad Yatoo, a resident of Kangan, was arrested. The stolen television set was also recovered in a broken state,” the spokesman said.
