
Srinagar: Army claimed to have killed a militant in a shoot-out at Pahnoo area of Shopian district in south Kashmir on Sunday evening.
Army’s Srinagar based defence ministry spokesman Col Rajesh Kalia said that militants attacked Mobile Vehicle Check Post (MVCP) of Army’s 44 RR at Pahnoo village at around 8pm.
The fire was retaliated triggering off a gunfight, the spokesman added.
He said that in the exchange of gunfire a militant was killed and his body along with an AK-rifle was recovered.
The Army identified the slain militant as Shahid Ahmad Dar S/o Mushtaq Ahmad Dar R/o Jamnagri, Shopian.
The operation in the area is still going on, Kalia said.
Meanwhile, locals said that internet was snapped in Shopian district after the militant’s killing.
