
Srinagar: Tens of protesters were injured during clashes with government forces in south Kashmir’s Shopian district where seven militants were killed early morning today in Dragad and a gunfight is going on at Kachdoora.
As the news of the militant killings spread, hundreds of protesters assembled and pelted stones on forces who retaliated with tear gas and pellet firing at Kachdoora and Dragad in which dozens of youth were injured. Some of the injured have been shifted to Srinagar hospitals.
Earlier, Police said that in a gunfight in Dragad seven militants, which included some top commanders, were killed.
At the time of the filling of this report, Kachdoora gunfight was ongoing.
Train and Internet services were suspended in both the Shopian and Anantnag districts following the killing of the militants.
In another gunfight in Dialgam of south Kashmir’s Anantnag, one militant Rouf Bashir Khanday was killed and his associate Imran Rashid was arrested, according to police.
