Militants give ‘gun salute’ to slain associate as thousands offer funeral prayers

A group of  militants appeared at the funeral of a slain associate and fired a volley of bullets in the air as a form of gun salute in the Pulwama district, reports said.

The group, including Hizbul commander Sameer Tiger, whose picture with a US-made M4 rifle went viral on social media a few days ago, appeared at the funeral of Wasim Ahmed and fired a volley of bullets in the air, a police official said.

Ganie and two other militants, both foreigners, including a nephew of Jaish-e-Mohammad chief Maulana Masood Azhar, were killed in an encounter in the Aglar area of Pulwama last night.

Thousands of people poured out into the streets as Wasim’s funeral prayers were held at a local ground in his native village Drubgam.
