On Badr anniversary, militants rattle forces across Kashmir

Srinagar, June 13: Upping the ante against the government forces in Kashmir, the militants launched at least eight attacks on security forces today across the Valley. Reports said that militants lobbed a grenade at a CRPF camp in Tral sub-district in which eight personnel were injured.

In south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, militants attacked the policemen guarding the residence of Justice (retd.) Muzaffar Attar and decamped with four rifles. Two policemen were injured during the rifle-snatching incident.

In another such incident, militants lobbed a grenade at 130 BN CRPF camp in Padgampora area of Pulwama district. Moments later, militants struck again and lobbed a grenade at a police station in the same district.

In north Kashmir’s Pazalpora, Sopore, militants attacked army camp of 22 RR.

Similar attacks were reported from Pahalgam area of Anantnag and Gopalpora area of Kulgam in south Kashmir.

Reports also came from Soibugh, Bugam in central Kashmir that militants attacked an army camp.

At least, 13 security forces were injured in the series of attacks today.

These attacks came in the backdrop of the 1437th anniversary of Battle of Badr, the first battle of Islam which took place on 17 March 624 AD, corresponding to 17 Ramadhan 2 AH of the Islamic calendar.
