Employees of J&K Handloom Development Corporation, J&K Arts Emporium and J&K J & K Horticltural Produce Marketing & Processing Corporation Ltd Monday held a protest in Srinagar demanding release of their salaries which they said were pending for months.
Meanwhile, the Federation Chamber of Industries Kashmir (FCIK) also staged a demonstration in Srinagar demanding an end to what they termed as “disparity” in tax concessions due to two SROs .
“The government issued two SROs – No 519 and 521, under which they would be offering tax concessions in both CGST and SGST to select units operating in the state,” Mukhtar Yousuf, FCIK president said. “We are asking the government why it will not extend to these concessions – at least in the SGST, to the units operating in the state.” Police detained some of the protesters as they tried to march from the Press Enclave towards city centre Lal Chowk.
