Fearing protests, authorities imposed restrictions in Srinagar  a day after a militant was killed in an alleged shootout with the police on the outskirts of the city.

An official said complete restrictions were imposed in Parimpora, Khanyar, M R Gunj, Nowahtta, Rainawari and Safakadal police station areas, while partial restrictions were in force in Maisuma and Kralkhud police station areas of the city

Mugees Ahmad Mir, a resident of Parimpora in the city and an associate of Zakir Musa, succumbed to wounds he had sustained in a shoot-out with police in Zakura area, police had said, adding a cop was also killed and another wounded in the gunfight.
