Authorities imposed restrictions in parts of Kashmir as a complete shutdown was  observed on Wednesday on the call of Joint Resistance Leadership against the killing of three civilians by forces since December 11. Beauty Jan (24) was killed in forces firing during a gunfight in Shopian in which two militants were also killed, local residents say. The police. however, said she was killed in “cross firing.” Just days before Ruby’s killing, a taxi driver Asif Iqbal was killed by the Army as he stepped out of his home  in Kralpora area of Kupwara to ferry a patient to a hospital, his family and local residents said. While the police initially told media that Iqbal’s killing was a case of “mistaken identity, the Army said he was killed in cross firing during an ambush laid for militants. On December 11, a woman Misra Bano was killed during an encounter between militants and government forces in Younso village of Handwara . While local residents blamed the forces for her killing, police had said that the woman was killed in “cross fire” after she tried to escape from the house where three militants were hiding.
