
The Srinagar-Jammu highway was closed for traffic Monday as rains and snowfall ended a long dry spell in Kashmir.
In view of heavy snowfall at some places, the Srinagar-Jammu highway was closed for traffic on Monday evening, officials said.
The precipitation started on Sunday evening and continued, intermittently at some places, on Monday.
The ski-resort of Gulmarg in Baramulla had received six inches of snowfall till Monday morning while Pahalgam resort received three inches of snowfall .
Sonamarg , Gurez, Tangdhar , Keran and Tosamaidan areas also received snowfall, an official said.
The historic Mughal Road and the Bandipora-Gurez road were also closed for traffic due to the snowfall.
