A police constable who was kidnapped by militants in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Thursday has been found dead. His bullet-ridden body was found this morning in Dangam in Shopian, reports said.

Militants barged into the house of constable Javed Ahmed Dar kidnapped him. He was kidnapped from Kachdoora, the village where security forces had killed five militants in an encounter in April this year.

Police said forces had launched an operation in the area to locate the constable.
